Shopping for Valentine’s Day? Throw something in for us!

31st January 2025

Your amazing local foodbank might not be the first thing you think of when you’re shopping for your loved one(s) this February, but what’s more romantic than showing how much you love not just your sweetheart, but their community too?

When you’re considering what to get hungry fellow Traffordians, chocolates might not be the first thing that comes to mind. Think hard, though, and the benefits of adding to our (very small!) stash of chocolates and other treats really start to add up.

People who use our foodbank are often going through one of the very worst periods in their life. Mums with hungry children, people escaping difficult domestic environments or finally getting off the cold winter streets.

Chocolates don’t need cooking (so many people we serve don’t have money to turn on the oven, or even an oven to turn on!) and it keeps forever. It can get you through the hardest of times, shining brightly as the reward for a hard day’s work.

A packet of biscuits or share bag of sweets can be shared with a friend or partner for an important moment of comfort and togetherness. A multipack of small bars or biscuits can provide a child or teen vital energy for sports or games with friends.

So please – this cold February, consider adding an extra treat to your basket for the people in your town, down your street, who need it more than you could imagine. There are loads of places you can drop it off – and if you’d prefer we spent your money more practically, you can also donate online.
