3 last-minute gift ideas for foodbank fans this Christmas

20th December 2024

Wondering what to give that friend who has everything? We’ve got some ideas – and guess what? Every single one of them involves both you and your foodbank. Everyone wins!

 1. One for you, more for me

A tin of mackerel or can of spam might feel like a confusing or even funny gift, but it’ll take on a whole new meaning when the person unwrapping it sees what you’ve written on the label: that their gift is just one from a pile of tins or boxes you’ve donated on their behalf to hungry people in their area. We might be biased, but we can’t think of anything more touching!

2. Meal twinning

Good at computers? Actually, this gift works even if you’re not – just whip out a notepad and a fancy pen and get scribbling. When you head out for dinner, you’re going to present your gift recipient with something really special – a certificate telling them that the very meal you’re eating together is twinned with one you donated to the foodbank.

Want to be extra fancy? One cheap IKEA frame and voila! Something worthy of hanging on the wall.

3. Donate your time

Run out of cash? We know the feeling…! Don’t worry, because there are still ways to show you care. Spend some of your most precious commodity – your time – volunteering here with us at your local foodbank. We’re always on the lookout for new friends to add to the foodbank family, and we’d love to meet you!

Too complicated? Send us some cash, and send them the screenshot – if they’re not grateful, we promise that we (and the hungry people we feed) most definitely will be!
